During Private Eyes fans waited for years Jason Priestley And Cindy Sampson The actors joked that their on-screen romance was a bit of an adjustment to being a couple on the show.
“I love Jason and I really couldn’t have asked for a better partner in crime and that’s the truth. He always supported me. He was a great guy and a great person to work with. I’m so happy to be able to work with him again,” Sampson, 48, said exclusively. We ahead of its premiere on Monday, October 5. “He’s very funny. He’s very good at what he does and he loves what he does. So he’s a great person to be on a show with for such a long time.”
But it took some time to move their on-screen relationship from platonic to romantic.
“If I couldn’t kiss her at work, I’d be happy with that too,” Sampson joked.
Sampson, who plays Angie, explained that she understood Priestley’s heartache, adding: “I lived and died on Beverly Hills, 90210. But when we started the original series and I had to be her boss, I literally had to check that at the door because I was like, ‘I can’t be a giggling schoolgirl and let this guy scare me.’ I said. And because he is so gentle, it is not scary. “But I had to forget all that, and honestly when I was working with him all the time I was like, ‘He’s just Jason.’”
Priestley, 58, had similar praise for Sampson.

The actor who plays Shade said, “I love Cindy. I’m happy no matter what we do together.” “She’s an incredibly talented artist and a very sweet, good person. I’m happy to spend time with her no matter what we do.”
He continued: “We know each other and have been friends for a very long time. To him it was like kissing his brother, which was very weird. But he seemed to be over it.”
Adapted from the author’s novel of the same name Great Britain Joyce, Private Eyes It featured Priestley and Sampson as two heroic private detectives solving crimes in Toronto. The show aired for five seasons in Canada before being canceled in 2021.

“Most of the fans really wanted them to get together, so I feel like everyone will be really excited to find out it’s next,” Sampson enthused. “Honestly, it was kind of funny because Jason and I are very close. We’re very, very close friends in real life. I was like, ‘Oh my God, here we go,’ just to be married at work.’ But it was really easy. “It was seamless.”
Priestley spoke We about what to expect in the new version of the show.
“A lot has happened, and Shade and Angie are in very different places in their lives,” he teased to Us . “When we come to the show, Matt Shade is on a book tour and writing a book and preparing for his retirement in Victoria as a full-time dad.”
Pointing to possible challenges, Priestley added: “But it’s retirement and Angie is struggling with the challenges of having a one-year-old baby, and the baby doesn’t really need her anymore. So how will she reintegrate into the world and society?”
He continued: “In the first episode, when the opportunity arises for Shade and Angie to get back into the world of private detectives, Shade is very enthusiastic and wants to do it. Shade is a little more reserved. But being the good supportive husband he is, he says, ‘Angie, if you want to do this, I think we’re doing it.’ “He comes on board pretty quickly.”
Private Detectives: West Coast It will premiere on Monday, October 5 at 8pm on The CW.
