Hilary Swank surprised fans with a big announcement: She’s pregnant with her third child at 52, after giving birth to twins at 48.
The “Million Dollar Baby” star and her family shared the news on social media with a video that showed them dancing with glow sticks taped to their bodies, which then revealed the mother’s belly.
The caption reads: “A lot of people are asking what project I will do next, it will be released in December.”
Three years ago, the Oscar-winning actress gave birth to twin children, daughter Aya and son Ohm, with her 52-year-old husband Philip Schneider.
Gynecologist Dr. Kameelah Phillips said getting pregnant at 52 is “extremely rare” and that it comes with serious medical problems.
“Most women in this age group are going through menopause,” she said. “But… even if your ovaries start to quiet down… your uterus can actually be persuaded to get pregnant through in vitro fertilization.”
“He’s definitely considered a high-risk team,” Phillips said. “Mothers are at higher risk of gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, diabetes and cesarean section.”
Swank spoke to “CBS Sunday Morning” two years ago after the birth of her twins.
“I think the beauty of it for me as an older parent is that I had the opportunity to dive deep into this dream of being an actress, and now I can dive deep into this dream of being a mother because I’m not being pulled in another direction,” she said.
