One of the Gosselin family’s former nannies claims Kate Gosselin “110% abused” her son Collin.
In an interview published in People magazine on Friday, Ashley H., who preferred not to reveal her last name, claimed that Kate “seemingly treated Collin very differently.”[ly]In her new memoir, “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood,” she is amid allegations of abuse against her mother.
Ashley, 42, told the press: “It’s almost hard to put into words the particular hatred he had for Collin. You could feel it. I saw him grab Collin so many times.”
Ashley, who worked as a house cleaner and carer for the Gosselin family in her 20s, also claimed Kate, 51, was a “house guide” who set out the rules for staff, including a ban on photographing children.
He also added that Kate had instructed staff to keep the house as if it had “always been uninhabited” and that her weekly and fortnightly chores included running toothpicks “along the sides of the fridge”.
“He wouldn’t let the kids do anything. There were never any toys. Nothing came out. They couldn’t survive,” he said.
Ashley also claimed Kate limits the kids to “one or two school outfits a week” to prevent them from creating “too much laundry.”
He described Kate’s interactions with her children as “robotic” rather than “loving” and claimed the mother of eight made it clear which children were her favorites and which were not.
“Someone would come and take the dog for care, but he treated his children worse than the animals,” she added.
Ashley recalled allegedly finding a large, red plastic spoon in the drawer and asking the boys what it was for.
They told him it was “the spoon your mother uses when she’s angry,” which prompted her to quit her job.
“That red spoon has been on my mind for a long time,” he added.
Ashley claimed that after quitting her job, she contacted Berks County Children and Youth Services in Reading, Pennsylvania, because the situation was emotionally damaging to her.
“I didn’t understand how someone could be so evil, downright evil and disgusting towards their own children,” she said.
Ashley claimed she wasn’t the only one to contact authorities and said she “supported” Collin’s claims that her mother was psychologically and physically abusive.
He claimed Kate was “always” dragging Collin by the ear and would “tear him out of his chair in the kitchen”.
Page Six did not immediately receive a response after reaching out to Kate and Berks County Children and Youth Services representatives for comment on Ashley’s allegations.
Collin, 22, previously opened up about the alleged abuse in an interview with Page Six earlier this month, claiming Kate once dragged him by the ear so hard that he “went to school with his ear swollen.”
The alleged harrowing incident was just one of several disturbing experiences that Collin describes as part of his “dark” and “violent” childhood in his memoir, published Oct. 13.
Kate disputed the claims in a TikTok comment, writing: “Rational, sensible [people] or anyone who deals with mental illness understands what’s going on here.
She also “liked” a comment claiming that Collin “will regret all of this one day” and that he was “encouraged and enabled by other dysfunctional and mentally ill people.”
In response to a TikTok comment on Thursday, Kate responded to Collin’s renewed harassment allegations, saying: “I know who I am and my kids know who I really am and that’s all that matters to me.”
Collin’s father, Jon Gosselin, defended his son, saying his son was “not mentally ill” and claiming he had “grounds to sue” his ex-wife Kate for alleged abuse of their children.
