Projector Presents ‘Your God Is Sleeping’ from ‘Behemoth’! For Evaluation of the Original Song

Searchlight Pictures will officially submit “Your God Is Sleeping” from Tony Gilroy’s upcoming drama film “Behemoth!” for consideration in the Oscars’ original song category. Diversity learned privately.

In the film, Pedro Pascal plays Alex Serian, a talented musician and cellist who returns to Los Angeles after 20 years on the road.

“Your God Is Sleeping” was written by singer-songwriter Lukas Frank, who is also one of the film’s nine composers known as Behemoth! Collective.

Speaking about the song, Frank said: Diversity, “Tony told me he needed a song for a superhuman child genius, ‘It’s like Björk meets Beethoven… but cooler.’ Something like this… so easy, right? I eventually tried to channel the music I loved as a young music enthusiast and built the song around the title from Tony’s script.

Gilroy wrote and directed the film, which will premiere at the New York Film Festival this Friday. Diversity He had known Frank for almost ten years. “My correspondence with Lukas dates back to 2018 when he started sending me his first demos, and I really liked him because he was a studio drummer,” Gilroy said. He added, “I’ve had a ringside seat to the evolution of Storefront Church (Frank’s band) and I really believe in that and what he does. Lukas’ music always impresses me; it’s so unique.”

When it came time to write the song, Gilroy gave Frank a chance to try it out. “He killed it,” Gilroy said of the final song.

He also stated that a version of the song was included in the film, but a special mix was prepared for the film’s soundtrack. “There’s a certain mixed version of ‘Your God Is Sleeping’ that’s in the movie. But then we did another mix for the soundtrack version – we did a radio mix. They brought in (producer) Dave Sardy and pumped it up and man, it’s really cool.”

“Continue!” It will be released in theaters on December 4.
