New York Comic Con was thrown into chaos on Thursday when actor Brandon Rogers attacked a cheater, warning, “I’m going to jump over this fence and finish you off.”
An unidentified attendee derailed the session by yelling six times at the cast of Prime Video’s “Helluva Boss” during a panel for the animated series at the Javits Center.
The first interruption came as the show’s creator, Vivienne Medrano, spoke to the crowd on the convention’s Main Stage.
“Thank you, good energy to start,” Medrano said in the video he shared on Instagram.
The audience continued to shout, causing Rogers, who sang “Blitzo” on the show, to lose patience.
“You need to shut up right now. I swear I’m going to jump over this fence and finish you off. That’s not cool,” Rogers said.
“Vivienne was sharing a really sweet story. This is fucking Comic-Con, guys. I’m sorry,” he added.
It’s unclear what the attendee said, but as the discussion continued, Rogers angrily stood up and walked to the front of the stage.
“You must go away now, or I will force you to leave,” he scolded.
Rogers then turned toward the event staff as he returned to his seat.
“Isn’t anyone wearing a vest? Maybe a bulletproof one?” he asked.
The audience then interrupted the panel as voice actress Vivian Nixon discussed motherhood.
“Is anyone working this damn event? Can someone please get this mother out of here? I swear,” he said.
A fan who attended the panel suggested that the attacker was eventually taken out.
“I was there at the panel and this guy was yelling nonsense. I believe they finally threw him out,” the fan wrote on Instagram.
A spokesperson for Comic-Con organizer ReedPop acknowledged the glitch and apologized for the delay in response.
“We are aware that a fan in the audience was repeatedly disturbed during the ‘Helluva Boss’ panel on Thursday,” a spokesperson told Variety.
“Although the situation was addressed following the panel, action was not taken quickly enough and we apologize to the panelists, moderator, and fans in attendance for this disruption.”
“We are taking steps to ensure future incidents are handled more quickly,” the spokesperson added.
“Helluva Boss” is an adult animated YouTube series about a group of demons running a hitman business in Hell.
The panel included actors Rogers, Nixon, Harvey Guillén, Erica Lindbeck, Bryce Pinkham and Richard Steven Horvitz, as well as moderator Perri Nemiroff.
The show also featured guest appearances by Norman Reedus, Kesha and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Jinkx Monsoon.
New York Comic Con continues through Sunday at the Javits Center, attracting stars like Nicolas Cage, Hayden Christensen, Sebastian Stan, Rosario Dawson and “Game of Thrones” alums Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
