“Arithmetic,” a psychological horror set at an elite international school, tops a genre-heavy slate that Vietnamese Bee Entertainment is offering to buyers at the Asian Contents and Film Market (ACFM) in Busan.
Vietnamese films have grossed more than VND3 trillion ($114 million) domestically in 2025, surpassing international productions in the local market for the first time. Bee aims to carry this momentum abroad.
The slate includes four feature films and three feature-length TV series in various stages of production, all slated for release in 2027. The company uses the marketplace to find partners for investment, joint development and distribution, as well as rights licensing agreements.
It stars Anh Thu, known for the 2007 Vietnam-South Korea co-production “Muoi: The Legend of a Portrait,” and Lam Thanh My (“Yellow Flowers on Green Grass”) in Vietnamese “Arithmadtik” or “Cong Tru Nhan Chia.” The film’s campus was designed according to the Dark Academia aesthetic. The story centers on a transfer student’s enigmatic bond with a teacher when a series of unexplained supernatural events cracks the school’s polished façade.
Phuong Tra My, who starred in the movie “The Third Wife”, which premiered in Toronto and won the NETPAC Award, joins the cast along with Chu Anh Tuan, Cong Ninh, Hoang Minh Hung and Dac Thang. The film is directed by Irving Ly, whose short film “Close Your Eyes” was screened at BFI Flare and the Korea Queer Film Festival and won the Silver Kite at Vietnam’s 2025 Golden Kite Awards. It opens in January 2027.
Three more films will be released in 2027. “The Stepmother” is directed by Tran Nhan Kien, who studied at the Asian Film School and attended the BIG NAFF Fantasy Film School of the Bucheon International Fantasy Film Festival. It follows a boy who loses his father as his relationship with his stepmother progresses from conflict and misunderstanding to the blurred line between strictness and care. It is dated to the second quarter.
Pom Nguyen directed “The Corpse” series, whose first two installments grossed more than VND280 billion ($10.7 million) combined. Pom Nguyen’s next film is “How to Find Wealth in 60 Days,” which combines action, comedy and family drama. It will be published in the third quarter. Le Ha Nguyen’s romantic horror comedy “Dealing With a Ghost” closes out the movie slate with its fourth-quarter release.
On the TV series side, the 80-episode family drama “The Unrecognized Heir”, directed by Trac Huynh Nhat Tan, started airing on VTV9 in December 2025, according to the company, and has already reached 1 billion views on social media platforms. Directed by Dang Minh Quoc, the 65-episode series “A Deal With God” combines family drama with comedy and fantasy. Trac is also directing the 80-episode romance “Destined to Find You,” which is currently in post-production.
Bee Entertainment, a subsidiary of Bee Comm, invests in, produces, releases and sells both Vietnamese and foreign films. Founded in 2009, Bee Comm is a “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” He is preparing the Vietnamese edition of his book. and the social impact program “Mai Am Gia Dinh Viet” (“Vietnamese Family Shelter”).
ACFM will continue until October. The 31st Busan International Film Festival will close on October 15.
