“It is deeply emotional to leave after two decades, but I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together and confident in the future of CFDA. Serving this community has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” he wrote in the statement.
The decision came after he took a leave of absence following the circulation of a video showing him getting physical with a protester. Video shows him leaving his seat and physically intervening with protesters, at one point pinning one to the ground and covering her mouth with one hand.

CFDA also issued a statement in response KolbResign to their Instagram.
“Steven Kolb In more than two decades with the CFDA, including fifteen years as CEO, he has been a dedicated leader and tireless defender of American fashion. ” they wrote.
The statement continued: “We respect stevendecided to resign and expressed gratitude for his years of leadership and service to CFDA and our industry. He leaves our organization in a strong position, with a clear mission and a dedicated team, to do the important work ahead as we look to the future of fashion in America. “
