Ninjago Legends: Dusk will premiere in South Korea this weekend, followed by a global release on the LEGO YouTube channel.
This anime-style short follows some of NINJAGO’s most beloved characters as they encounter new challenges and new battles, while bringing back some familiar voices from the original show and NINJAGO: Rise of the Dragon.
The series, made up of three interconnected short films, each three minutes long, premiered on Friday at the “Ninjago Legends Duskfall” fan event at Yongsan Park Mall in Seoul. The shorts will be released on Saturday, September 19, on the LEGO Group’s YouTube channel.
The three short films are “The End Begins” directed by David Cazeau and Charles Lefebvre, “The Terminal” directed again by Cazeau and Lefebvre, and “Epilogue” directed by Cazeau, Lefebvre and Hugo Silzniak.
Andrew Francis reprises his role as Cole, Kelly Metzger as Nya, and Vincent Tong as Kai. Also returning to the series are Brian Drummond as the Soothsayer and Runt, Adrian Petriw as Scott, and Sabrina Pitre (the voice of Sora in Rise of the Dragons) as a journalist.
A trailer for the short series begins with a female voice saying, “Kai, if you can make it through this, promise me you’ll walk away.” The camera then cuts to a lot of action before Kai, wearing a red ninja costume, says, “Save the elements, here I come.”
Then the female voice said, “We no longer fight demons or monsters, they call us warriors, protectors, ninjas.”
The short was created to commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of the NINJAGO series, offering fans who have watched the show a chance to see the characters in a new way, with many hoping the anime-style short would be expanded into a full-fledged series. Ninjas, watch this space.
