“We can both hope [my character Voit will return] but all I know is that I’m not there to shoot right now,” he told Us of his potential return for Criminal Minds: Evolution season 20 in July 2026. “It was hard to say goodbye. “It was definitely one of my favorite characters that I’ve ever managed to play, partly because it’s such a gift.”

For Gilford, Criminal Minds was the perfect challenge, and he adds, “It was nice to give this guy some redemption and get the good guy note – so to speak. It’s weird. Gilford said he had a hard time saying goodbye to Criminal Minds.

“It was so sad and I actually said, ‘I’m not good with emotions,'” she shared. “So literally — before it was even officially packed — I felt like this was the last take. I just left. I didn’t say goodbye to anyone. I just snuck out. ‘Zach, where are you? Where did you go?’ they said. Then a few people saw me getting out of my car. “I said, ‘Bye, see you later.'”
