Hilary Duff called the revenge prank “cruel” and “kind of evil,” recalling the brutal act of revenge she committed as a teenager against a boy who mistreated her friend.
The 39-year-old pop star recently told the story in an interview with Billboard, saying the prank was aimed at “a guy who was really dirtying my friend” and was planned while he and his friend were “hitting the bottle.”
“My spiciest nights were kind of evil and a long time ago, pre-kids,” Duff said, before recalling the foul-smelling concoction the man threw into her house.
“We were hungry and went and bought the cheapest, most disgusting can of sausage and tuna and had a little field day in her front yard,” the singer said.
Duff did not identify her friend or the canned fish buyer, and was quick to clarify that the drink drive took place in her “late teens” because she “isn’t really one to go out much” these days.
However, the singer admitted that she still enjoys “getting really hot with my friend.”
While her friend’s name remains anonymous, Duff maintains a circle of longtime celebrity friends, including actress Mandy Moore and fellow musician Meghan Trainor, who was thought to be the subject of Disney star Ashley Tisdale’s scathing article about a “toxic” group of moms earlier this year.
She’s not the only star who took revenge after being mistreated.
Tiffany Haddish infamously defecated on her ex-partner’s shoes after finding out he was cheating, while Iggy Azalea admitted to burning her unfaithful ex-fiancee’s designer clothes in a bonfire.
Duff’s admission comes just weeks after a trip Down Under for the Australian leg of The Lucky Me Tour, where she took in sold-out shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.
During the Sydney show, Duff thanked Australian fans for being “so loving, so kind and welcoming everywhere you go”.
“You guys took my album to number one here. That was terrible. I’ll never forget it,” he said.
