Joe Jonas He looks back on the “intense” near-death experience they had during a recent holiday in Italy.
“It’s very challenging,” Jonas, 37, said. The Morgan Stewart Show He recalled how he tried to jump from the yacht onto a soft boat while going to a beach restaurant with friends on Wednesday, September 23. “So the first mate helps me get on the boat… Then he said, ‘Okay, go ahead’… So I take a step, but when I took a step, a wave came and pushed the boat too far away from the yacht.”
The Jonas Brothers member noted that this seemed like “the biggest problem,” but it turned “terrible” when he and his first mate fell into the water and got trapped between the boats.
“We are among these boats,” he continued. “We’re fully dressed, my phone in my pocket, everything. And when I get upstairs, I’m out of it. ‘What the hell just happened?’ I thought.”
Jonas “walked away” from the boats and eventually managed to reach an area where he could safely climb onto one of the decks. However, he hit his shin on the way up and fell back into the water.
“So I rolled over on top of this tender, soaking wet,” he recalled, insisting it was “fine.”
Stewart, 38, was there when it happened and recalled her fears as she watched it all unfold.
“I was like, ‘Vacation is over. Vacation is over,'” he said. “This is going to hit him in the head and we’re going to lose a Jonas Brother.”
“You had to swim a little bit. It was very scary,” he told Jonas.
Although Jonas said his “adrenaline” was high for a long time after the incident, he eventually got rid of the “anxiety”. He remembered looking at his girlfriend Tatyana Gabriela and says, “That was really scary.”
“That really scared me for a while. It was really intense,” he added.

After calming down, Jonas said his first thought was that he needed to call his daughters Willa, 6, and Delphine, 4, “right away.” (The singer shares his children with his ex-wife Sophie Turner.)
“I just need to call them. I need to see them,” he recalled saying. “I need to see their faces. All I thought was, ‘I want to talk to them.'”
Jonas stated that what happened was “the best outcome of a bad situation” and that if things had gone the other way, “it could have been really bad.”
“Life goes so fast and so easily that if something really bad could happen [you] you have no awareness of it,” he concluded.
