Adam Brody calls for a “free Palestine” and explains why his political activism isn’t highlighted more often on the red carpet and in the press.
“I just answer questions that are asked of me,” the actor told GQ. “And that’s true. I don’t take any shots, so I don’t invite any particular questions, and maybe I should. I really admire people who do that. But 99% of what I get asked is about the show. I’m not trying to claim ignorance – we’re doing a political interview here, so it makes sense for us to venture into that territory – but I’ve never dodged a question anyway, it’s not really a political question.”
The “OC” actor explained that although he has never spoken publicly about the Israel-Gaza issue before, the issue has come up for him “a lot” in private meetings. He later made his stance on the conflict clear: “Insult me by thinking this is genocide,” he said. “Tell me I want a free Palestine. It’s awful to endure so much death and misery, but it feels like we’re reaching a breaking point that should have happened a while ago.”
Brody, who is not on social media, also defended his decision to stay offline. “I think staying away from social media has been the healthiest thing. I’m forced to use a lot of tools and products that I don’t believe in for the heads of these companies, but I’m sure I won’t be involved in anything that Elon Musk is a part of,” he said. “I know people are doing really good work. [X]And I’m really glad about that. But it’s not for me and I don’t feel any guilt for not taking part in it. “I’m sorry, I feel very good about this.”
Brody has starred in Netflix’s romantic comedy series “Nobody Wants This” as rabbi Noah Roklov since Season 1 premiered in 2024. Season 3 will premiere on the streamer on October 22.
