Alison Hammond on Heart Scare This Morning: ‘I’m fine’

“The Great British Bake Off” co-host Alison Hammond is reassuring fans that she is “fine” after quickly leaving her gig on ITV’s “This Morning” due to a health issue.

“Hi darlings,” Hammond said in a video posted to Instagram Stories later Friday. In the clip, which includes the text “Whatever it takes to take a day off,” Hammond is seen lying in bed wearing a hospital gown.

“I know you’re all worried about me. Honestly, first of all, I’m fine,” Hammond says. “But I’m getting my old number checked. I had some palpitations and I’m getting them all checked now. But I think I’m okay. I hope it was just a little panic attack or something like that. I love you all. Thank you for all the nice messages.”

Hammond was on screen with “This Morning” co-host Dermot O’Leary as he experienced the segment, and after the subsequent commercial break, O’Leary told viewers he had to “run away” because he “didn’t feel well.”

In his video, Hammond went on to apologize to ITV’s “This Morning” for having to leave the show unexpectedly due to fear.

“I’m so sorry I left you. I normally never do that,” Hammond said. “I would never quit a TV show. I mean, you know I’m not very well. But I hope I’ll be okay. The doctors are so sweet and they’re checking me. And I hope everything will be okay. I love you. Everything’s okay. Look, I’m rocking it. Look how beautiful I look. I’m still doing my makeup from this morning!”
