Amelia Dimoldenberg has added more theaters to its one-night-only “Chicken Shop Date” movie theater event, including New York City and Los Angeles.
The expansion is driven by unprecedented demand; All screenings in the UK, Ireland and Paris sell out within three hours of initial announcement. New locations include the IFC Center in New York City and the Regal Sherman Oaks Galleria in Los Angeles, as well as added screenings in London, Cardiff, Glasgow and more. Like Diversity As reported last week, Dimoldenberg will release the entire final series of “Chicken Shop Date” in select theaters on Nov. 24, in collaboration with YouTube’s Cine Club. All six episodes of the final series, which have so far included interviews with Oasis’ Noel Gallagher, Role Model and Jorja Smith, will be shown together in a single “cinematic experience”, per a press release featuring exclusive new material. The screening will end with the final unaired episode, giving fans a chance to watch the episode before it airs on YouTube on November 27.
The statement notes that “Chicken Shop Date” will also “offer a personal look behind the series, exploring Amelia’s relationship with the series and her decision to end it.” “Moving between comedy, nostalgia and heartfelt reflection, the film is both a celebration of everything ‘Chicken Shop Date’ has become and a fitting farewell to one of the internet’s most recognizable formats.”
The public screenings will be preceded by invite-only premieres in London on November 16 and in New York on November 17, where Dimoldenberg will participate in a Q&A.
