Continuing her transition from reality TV to acting, Ariana Madix is executive producing and starring in a drama series in development at Peacock.
In a metagame about Madix’s unscripted career, the project is titled “Housewives of the Future,” and the official logline reads: “In the collapsing asteroid colony of New Beverly Hills, wealthy socialites juggle bioengineered beauty regimes, brutal rivalries, and interplanetary scandals. But when a young, starry-eyed stranger unexpectedly turns their opulent world upside down, it reveals just how far they’ve come. Reality Out of touch in a society that moves beyond the superficial, in this sharply satirical yet surprisingly frank reinvention of TV.
“Future Housewives” is written by Brandon Braga, who is known for his writing on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Star Trek: Voyager” as well as co-creating “Star Trek: Enterprise.” He is represented by WME.
Seth Macfarlane executive produces with Erica Huggins via his Fuzzy Door banner, while Fuzzy Door’s Jaron Lanier serves as co-producer and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald and Emily Kochman direct. Universal Global Television is the studio.
Madix first rose to prominence as a cast member on Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules,” where she starred for 11 years, and currently serves as the host of “Love Island USA” on Peacock. She made her acting debut on Broadway as Roxie Hart in “Chicago” and currently stars as Connie Francis in “Just in Time.” On the big screen, he made guest appearances in NBC’s “St. Denis Medical” and ABC’s “Will Trent”. Madix recently launched her own production company, Over Fences, and “Future Housewives” is her first scripted project. He is repped by Gersh, Venture Entertainment Partners and Hansen Jacobson Teller.
