Chris Olsen’s Memoirs Helping Teens with Addiction Issues

Chris Olsen says writing his recently released memoir, “I Think My Therapist Hates Me,” wasn’t easy, but he believes it was worth it.

“People say, ‘Was it a relief to write this? No, I felt like I was stabbing myself over and over again,’ the TikTok star told me at the MTV VMAs on Sunday.” “Now that the book is out, people seem to be positively affected by it. Helping people. That’s all that matters to me.”

The book chronicles Olsen’s struggle with substance abuse disorder and her journey to sobriety, as well as her mental health struggles. It received many messages from readers.

“It’s about young people who are struggling with their own substance abuse issues or living in families where addiction is a big problem and going through that, feeling very alone, and I think that’s the point of writing a story like this, writing a memoir, feeling less alone and being able to relate to people, and that’s really all I ever wanted to do,” Olsen said.

He also joked about adapting the book for television as a limited series and suggested Harry Styles should play it. “He has to be someone humble like Harry Styles,” Olsen said. “I just want a newcomer who looks like me, like a newcomer, who looks like me, acts like me, and wants it. He’s hungry for the role.”

Olsen, 28, grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland. She rose to fame as one of TikTok’s original influencers, amassing more than 14 million followers there and three million followers on Instagram. She is also a singer, actress and LGBTQ advocate. In 2022, he hosted Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood party in Los Angeles.
