Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi’s musical horror film “Rooh” has added Tips Films and Tips Music to its production team; Kumar Taurani has joined the project ahead of the film’s release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu markets in 2027.
Mayank Sharma is directing from a script he co-wrote with Vishal Kapoor. Tips Films presents the film produced by Vicked Films. Taurani, Girissh Kumar, Vikram Khakhar and Sunny Khanna are producing while Vikas Sahni is co-producing. The soundtrack will be released on Tips Music.
“Rooh” blends horror with romance and incorporates its songs into the plot. Hashmi pioneered Hindi horror films like “Raaz: The Mystery Continues”, “Raaz 3: The Third Dimension” and “Ek Thi Daayan”, and the songs in his films were often bigger than the films they came from.
Earlier this year, Hashmi played a customs officer in Neeraj Pandey’s crime drama “Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web” for Netflix, which was released in Hindi with Tamil, Telugu and English dubs on January 14. The series topped Netflix’s global non-English language TV chart for the week of January 12-18.
The clues deal reunites the player with Taurani. Taurani said the association has special meaning as Tips produced Hashmi’s debut film “Footpath”.
“We have had many unforgettable successes in many films over the years, and we are excited to recreate that magic once again with ‘Rooh,'” Taurani said. “I am also excited to collaborate with Sunny Khanna and Vikram Khakhar on this project and look forward to bringing back the engaging experience of a theatrical film to the audience.”
Hashmi said that working with Taurani in the film was a coincidence.
“Music has always been an integral part of how audiences connect with my films. With ‘Rooh’ we want music that captures the spirit of the film, is deeply romantic, haunting and rooted in emotion,” he said.
Khakhar of Vicked Films Productions described “Rooh” as a very special project for his company and described the arrival of Tips Films and Tips Music as a big step.
“We are all excited to offer audiences an immersive and memorable horror experience in theaters in 2027,” he said.
Khanna said he was delighted to have Taurani and Kumar on board and that their performances in both film and music made the partnership particularly exciting for a project where music plays a central role.
“With this partnership, we look forward to bringing ‘Rooh’ to audiences across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu markets,” Khanna said.
