Taylor Swift has a long history at the MTV VMAs, and she broke another record.
Swift became the most awarded artist in VMA history by receiving her 33rd person of the month at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. He had previously been awarded 30 awards with Beyoncé.
Swift won three VMA awards at the 2026 ceremony on September 27, including the inaugural Artist Direction Award, which honors artists’ work behind the scenes to create music videos. In her acceptance speech, Swift said that she has shot 60 music videos and written and directed 18 of them.
Swift also won the VMA award for best directing for “Opalite” and the night’s top award, video of the year, for “The Fate of Ophelia.” Both tracks have been re-released from her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl”, as a special “The Encore” edition with four new tracks.
Swift became the most awarded solo artist in VMA history following the 2024 ceremony, where she won a total of seven awards. This brought her career total to 30, tying her with Beyoncé at the time.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Beyoncé has won 26 VMAs as a solo artist; two of which were with Destiny’s Child and two with husband Jay-Z as The Carters.
Over the years, Swift has driven home the moon people with songs like “You Belong With Me,” “Blank Space,” “You Need to Calm Down,” “Anti-Hero” and more from her different eras.
