Who is Jane Doe? Rap mogul Jay-Z accused The man responsible for the sexual assault has officially recanted his allegations, stating in court documents that her allegations are false and that he has never met her.
“Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter has never acted inappropriately towards me.” anonymous woman he wrote in a 12-page affidavit reviewed by CBS News. Shawn Carter is Jay-Z’s legal name. “None of the allegations I have made against Mr. Carter are true.”
The woman said she understood that her “false accusations caused Mr. Carter great pain, suffering and damage that may never be fully compensated.”
Woman previously requested that she was raped by Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs while a third person is watching. The initial lawsuit, filed in October 2024 and amended to include Carter in December 2024, alleged the woman was invited to a Video Music Awards after party when she was a teenager. He claimed he felt dizzy after drinking at the after party and went to lie down. Carter then alleged that Combs and another woman entered the room and that Combs and Carter raped her while the woman was there.
In her statement denying the allegations against Carter, the woman said she saw a Facebook ad looking for people who might make allegations of sexual assault. vs. Combswho serves four years in prison for prostitution-related charges. She said the ad triggered memories of being raped when she was young. When he contacted the company based on the ad, he said he had a connection with Buzbee Law Firm.
In her statement, the woman said that the first case was filed in October 2024. Tony Buzbee and his firm without his knowledge. He said he began to doubt her allegations against him after the lawsuit was amended to include Carter in January 2025, saying, “I’ve never been to a party with celebrities.” He claimed that after his lawyers told him this, they dismissed the case.
Carter denied all the allegations and filed a lawsuit against the woman, Buzbee, and the Texas-based law firm, accusing them of conspiring to pressure her for a confidential financial settlement. Carter claimed the lawsuit was amended to include him after he refused to pay an “extortion demand letter” sent by Buzbee in October 2024.
A malicious prosecution case against Buzbee and his law firm is ongoing in New York. Carter filed a statement Thursday saying he was dismissing the woman as a defendant in the case.
He wrote that the “trauma” he, his family and loved ones experienced because of the allegations “can never be ignored.”
The woman’s new attorney, James Blair Newman Jr., said she “claimed that she was a victim of sexual assault, but she was completely mistaken in her claims that Mr. Carter was identified and those claims are false.”
Buzbee continues to represent other plaintiffs suing Combs for sexual assault. Victims claimed they were harassed at parties in New York, California and Florida. Combs’ lawyers called Buzbee’s lawsuits “shameless publicity stunts designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear lies will be spread about them.”
