Jimmy Kimmel criticized President Donald Trump last week for a deeply personal attack on a Reuters reporter who asked if he was canceling several rallies because he was tired of all the traveling ahead of the midterm elections.
Instead of responding, Trump called reporter Jacob Bogage “sick” and then pursued his appearance.
“Look at this idiot. Look at this guy. He’s pretty out of shape,” Trump said. “You’re disgusting. Get yourself in shape. You look like hell.”
Kimmel called Trump’s outburst “disgraceful.”
“It was an ugly moment,” Kimmel said. “And you’d think she’d want to go beyond that, especially given her body type, but it would be wrong to think that.”
Instead, Trump posted a photo of the journalist on the website Truth Social, writing, “Reuters (One of the Worst!) Reporter.”
The headline read: “Get yourself in shape.” “You look like hell!”
Kimmel gave the president a reality check.
“First of all, no one is saying, ‘Get yourself in shape,'” Kimmel said. “This sounds like something Melania yelled at while she was eating fries.”
He then put a not-so-flattering image of the president on the screen.
“Also, the person you’re looking at right now shouldn’t be telling anyone else to get themselves in shape,” he said.
This led to awareness of Trump.
“There are so many crazy things about him, I think the craziest thing about Donald Trump is that he thinks he’s hot,” Kimmel said. “That’s what he does.”
