Katseye member Sophia Laforteza will continue her activities with the group starting from the first week of January 2027, according to an announcement published on her social media accounts.
“Sophia is prioritizing her health and well-being with our full support and resources,” Hybe and Geffen’s memo says. “While Sophia will not be participating in the WILDWORLD TOUR or promotional activities in North America for the remainder of this year, we look forward to welcoming her back as we continue the next chapter together at KATSEYE 2027.”
Laforteza also posted his own message to Katseye, signaling his return, thanking fans for their “patience, grace and understanding.” “Your kindness during this time has given me more strength than you know,” she said on Instagram Stories. “It wasn’t easy, but I got started by getting the care I needed, learning the tools to better support myself, and doing everything I could to improve my well-being.
“I am deeply saddened to not be able to participate in the remainder of the tour this year,” he continued. “I will use this time to continue training and get myself back to where I need to be. While I simply want to be able to move forward, I’ve come to realize that sometimes having the courage to step back is what allows you to move forward. My hope is to come back feeling happier, healthier, stronger, more resilient, and ready to give you everything I want to give you. I’m holding on so tight to this. I can’t wait to share the stage with my sisters again, and take care. All of you!”
Laforteza announced in August that he would be stepping back from the band to prioritize his mental health and wellness. This comes after member Manon Bannerman announced a temporary hiatus in February. The global girl group, which also includes Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel and Yoonchae Jeung, recently released the “Wild” EP and embarked on their “Wildwood” tour, which will continue in North America until the end of November.
