“You do realize what a terrible loss this is, right?” Kosta asked during the show Wednesday night. “You’re not going to pretend that this is normal, are you?”
Kosta then played clips of Sean Hannity and Katie Miller doing their best to make the results look like every other midterm election.
“Historically, you see the party in power lose midterm elections,” Miller said.
“Date matters. Midterms are very, very predictable,” Hannity said.
Kosta scoffed at the idea that losing elections in GOP strongholds like Kansas and Texas is somehow normal.
“You couldn’t even get South Carolina to vote for Lindsey Graham’s sister-widow,” Kosta said. “It’s one thing to say that many couples go through messy breakups. It’s another thing to say that if you’re OJ.”
Kosta asked someone to provide a plausible explanation for the Republicans’ losses. He then turned to famous conspiracy theorist Alex Jones for the most implausible explanation.
“I tried to save Trump. I’m not sure. I invested so much. Maybe I was blind to it. I think he’s the Democrats’ biggest sleeper cell and he’s working for them!” said Jones.
“Yes, that’s a good thing!” said Costa.
