Inde Navarrette took a swipe at Shane Gillis after his controversial joke about women’s activewear during his “Saturday Night Live” opening monologue.
The 25-year-old “Obsession” star mocked the comedian while discussing her exercise routine ahead of her upcoming Marvel role on Saturday’s episode of the NBC sketch comedy show.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m going to be in a Marvel movie,” Navarrette told the audience.
“And I know it’s really important to Marvel that you stay in shape, so I work out a lot,” he continued.
“So every morning I put on my little whore outfit and go to the gym,” the actress joked, drawing applause from the audience.
The remarks were an apparent reference to Gillis’ own “SNL” monologue from Oct. 10; During this monologue, he made rude comments about women’s low-cut workout clothes, which sparked reactions.
“Also, I haven’t been to the gym in so long that I didn’t know women dressed like whores now?” Gillis, 38, was joking at the time.
He went on to make fun of women wearing tight shorts at the gym, complaining that they were discouraged from looking at them, especially when filming themselves for social media.
Gillis’ remarks sparked criticism from many celebrities, including “Schitt’s Creek” star Dan Levy, who criticized the comedian in an Instagram video.
“Women who wear short shorts at the gym doesn’t make them sluts,” Levy said. “This makes men who call them whores misogynistic.”
Former “SNL” cast members Ego Nwodim and Cecily Strong also criticized the controversial part.
Elsewhere in her monologue, Navarrette joked about the similarities between herself and her character, Nikki, in “Obsession.”
The actress insisted she is nothing like her on-screen counterpart, pointing to her seemingly comfortable relationship with boyfriend Nick Aiello.
But when the camera cuts to Aiello in the audience, he is shown hilariously bound and gagged.
Navarrette, who will play Rogue in an upcoming “X-Men” movie, made her “SNL” hosting debut on the Halloween episode, which featured Gracie Abrams as the musical guest.
A representative for Gillis did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
