Porsha Williams discusses health scares and emergency surgery

Porsha Williams reveals doctors found 21 uterine fibroids

The 45-year-old “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star said the discovery happened in May when she was considering having another child. Williams went with a friend to discuss egg freezing and decided to consult with her own fertility doctor while she was there. After revealing she had been dealing with prolonged periods, migraines, extreme fatigue and mood swings, doctors discovered 21 uterine fibroids, including one she described as being about the size of a cantaloupe.

Williams details the emotional toll of her health scare

Porsha Williams said the fibroids became so severe that they affected her birth canal and put pressure on her bladder. She ended up having an emergency partial hysterectomy. The reality star has battled uterine fibroids since her 20s and previously revealed complications from them led to her miscarriage four months into her pregnancy.

Now, Williams is opening up about the emotional aspects of the experience, including the grief she felt after losing the ability to raise another child. During a conversation with Gayle King on the CBS Morning Show, Porsha also admitted she felt shame when discussing her hysterectomy. By sharing her story, she hopes to encourage women, especially Black women, to listen to their bodies, advocate for themselves, and seek medical care when they don’t feel well.
