Hannah Cain, 45, who served as a doctor for Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family, was murdered over the weekend.
Her husband, Mark Cain, has been arrested and charged with murder, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Hannah, who was hosting a sleepover for her three children on Sunday, suffered a “blunt force injury to the right side of her head” that “may suggest pressure on her neck.”
The murder took place at her and Mark’s $1.1 million home in Dersingham, a mile from Camilla and King Charles’ Sandringham Estate.
According to the Sun, the royal family has been informed of Hannah’s death but has yet to speak out.
A friend of Hannah’s told the press that she appeared “stressed” and “distracted” during the school run a few days before her death, which was “out of character”.
Mark has not entered a plea to the murder and remains in custody. The energy company manager will appear in court again on Thursday.
Authorities have not yet announced a reason.
Detective Insp Alix Wright said authorities were “in the very early stages of this investigation and are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.”
“I would urge anyone who believes they may have information that could assist our investigation to share it with us,” Wright added.
Page Six reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Hannah’s colleagues, patients and other local residents left flowers in memory of the late doctor.
Clinic manager Julie-Ann Rayner, who worked with Hannah for “a number of years,” told the US Sun: “She was an amazing doctor and an amazing person, really wonderful, really warm-hearted. She really cared about her family.”
“It’s incredibly sad what happened. Everyone is in complete shock,” Rayner added.
“I can’t stop thinking about his sons and what they’re going through.”
