The Halloween edition of “SNL” Weekend Update saw a Pennywise cameo from Ben Marshall, as well as some jabs at President Trump’s recent obsession with candidates’ backstories.
“Even Vice President J.D. Vance came out and said: HE She was jealous that President Trump never complimented her ass. What’s going on! Your party is about to lose the midterms, stop playing ‘shot or pass’ with each other!” shouted co-host Colin Jost.
Later, during Weekend Update, Michael Che made a joke about Israel that caused Jost to wince playfully.
“A record number of people voted in the Israeli elections this week, which is great to see, regardless of whether you are on the right side, the left side or the soft side,” Che said.
One of the reasons the U.K.’s “Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update has outperformed the U.S. version is that Jost and Che largely avoid controversial topics like Israel, while the U.K.’s Weekend Update co-hosts subtly poke fun at the likes of Ed Sheeran and Macklemore for their outsized roles in the conversation surrounding Israel’s war in Gaza.
Looks like that’s the best Jost and Che can finally come up with.
