Taylor Swift crashes Dakota Johnson’s ‘SNL’ monologue: ‘My real therapist’

Taylor Swift interrupted Dakota Johnson’s “Saturday Night Live” opening monologue and made a surprise appearance as her friend’s breakup “therapist.”

Johnson poked fun at “two very public, very bad breakups with two very great musicians” when the “Cruel Summer” singer suddenly joined him on Saturday night.

“Some people don’t wear shoes, some people suck in bed. It’s all in my DMs. But it’s not my fault. Some people leave concerts with merch, I leave concerts with a two-and-a-half-year relationship,” Johnson said, comparing their relationship to the theme of the new thriller “Verity.”

“But I have really good friends. They don’t judge me for dating these guys. They’re actually really supportive,” Johnson added.

Swift then took the 30 Rock stage to loud cheers.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I am the real therapist,” Johnson said.

“I’m not actually your therapist. You come to my house once a week with an empty bottle of wine and ask me if I want some,” Swift joked.

“Yes, I have manners,” Johnson said.

“And then you plop down on my couch and overshare, and I often say, ‘Damn, this is so crazy.’ Then I say, ‘It’s late, I really should go to bed.’ And then you say…” Swift continued.

“Go back to sleep!” Johnson interrupted excitedly.

“Then I give you a Pedialyte and my security drives you home,” Swift said, patting Johnson on the back.

Johnson also joked that she was doing a public service by dating male musicians and making women “a lot of money” on the antidepressant Zoloft.

“So welcome, America. Also allegedly parts of England and Ireland, and Cleveland,” she said, referring to rumors that she was dating Machine Gun Kelly, a Cleveland native.

Swift exclaimed in response to the rumor that Cleveland is the hometown of husband Travis Kelce and where the couple plans to live.

Swift then excitedly noted that it was Johnson’s birthday as the actress began the show.

This is Swift’s ninth appearance on “SNL,” appearing as the musical guest on four shows, hosting once and making four guest appearances.

Johnson stars opposite Colin Farrell in Swift’s latest music video, “Patient Zero,” which Swift directed and co-starred in.

In the video, which premiered at the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday, Johnson and Farrell follow an upper-class couple whose marriage appears to be falling apart.

Johnson’s history of relationships with musicians includes Noah Gersh, whom she dated from 2007 to 2010, and Drowners frontman Mathew Hitt, whom she dated from 2014 to 2016.

She dated Coldplay frontman Chris Martin from 2017 to 2025. In 2026, Johnson and musician Role Model broke up after less than a year of dating.

More recently, casual romance rumors were sparked after Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly reportedly hit it off at Swift and Kelce’s wedding in July.
