The end of an era is fast approaching on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” and the network has announced at least the first phase of plans for what comes next.
Following the impending departure of longtime host Trevor Noah, the network shared this week that comedy legends including Al Franken, Chelsea Handler, DL Hughley, Leslie Jones, John Leguizamo, Hasan Minhaj, Kal Penn, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes, and Marlon Wayans will join the late-night show as hosts, starting Tuesday, January 17, as part of the “next chapter.”
Comedy Central added that “Daily Show” reporters and contributors are also “ready to host with additional details to be announced.”
“As we enter Trevor’s final week, we want to thank him for his many contributions,” Paramount Media Networks chairman/CEO Chris McCarthy said, according to the network’s statement.
“Trevor has redefined the show as Jon Stewart has done before him, and as we look to the future, we’re excited to re-imagine the show once again with the help of this incredible roster of talents and reporters, as well as the incredibly talented ‘Daily Show’ team.”
Noah’s final show will air this Thursday. The network has not yet announced whether guest hosts will rotate indefinitely or whether a permanent, individual host will be named soon.
“The Daily Show” airs weekdays at 11pm ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available the following morning on Paramount+.
