President Donald Trump has routinely — and falsely — claimed that he won the 2020 election, when in fact Joe Biden did.
But the new AI-powered America.gov website, which Trump launched with great fanfare on Tuesday, says otherwise.
One user asked: “Who won the 2020 US presidential election?” When you send a query like this, America.gov responds: “Joseph R. Biden Jr. won the 2020 US presidential election.” Citing the National Archives, the site also offers the official electoral college results of the election: “Biden: 306 electoral votes; Donald J. Trump: 232 electoral votes.”
According to the White House, America.gov is “a single digital entry point for Americans to access federal government information or services online.” Trump signed an executive order Tuesday to “ensure that federal agencies are integrated” with the new AI-powered website, according to the White House.
According to the Trump administration, the website is “a secure, intelligent, and service-oriented single point of entry where an individual can log in, communicate in plain language, receive accurate answers, and, when authorized and technically available, complete government transactions without having to navigate the websites of multiple federal agencies.”
According to CNBC’s news, based on US chief design officer Joe Gebbia, America.gov is supported by the artificial intelligence technology of Google’s Gemini and Elon Musk’s Grok. According to the White House, the site provides information from 29,000 government websites that can be accessed using a chatbot prompt to answer questions. “Each response was obtained solely from federal, state, and local websites,” the information on the website reads.
