This will be Amazon’s second attempt at a new “Stargate” series. It was previously reported that Martin Gero was working on a new TV installment in the sci-fi franchise, but that project ultimately did not move forward.

Schaeffer is no stranger to the genre world, given her previous success with the hit series “WandaVision” for Marvel Studios and Disney+. The series was the first Marvel Cinematic Universe series to premiere on Disney+, with Marvel stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprising their roles as Wanda and Vision from the Marvel films. It has received 23 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, as well as numerous other awards. It was one of the most watched and most praised TV series of 2021.

Schaeffer later created the “WandaVision” spinoff “Agatha All Along,” which starred Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, reprising her role from “WandaVision.” Schaeffer was the showrunner, writer and executive producer on this show, in addition to directing it. Prior to his time at Marvel, he wrote the screenplay for Disney’s animated feature film “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” and the 2019 Anne Hathaway-Rebel Wilson comedy “The Hustle,” a remake of the 1980s comedy “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.”

He is represented by Curator, CAA, and attorney Erik Hyman.

“Stargate” was first released in 1994 as a movie starring James Spader and Kurt Russell. The film was followed by the hit series “Stargate SG-1,” which ran for 10 seasons and starred Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping and Christopher Judge. The spin-off series “Stargate Atlantis” aired for five more seasons between 2004 and 2008.
