Voters rejected Trump and his handpicked candidates across the country; This showed in polls that they wanted prices to be lowered and the war with Iran to end.
Instead, on Thursday, the president signed a proclamation declaring the Oval Office a national monument after spending much of the past year adding gold and other decorations.
“That’s right. His historic Diet Coke button will be preserved for generations to come,” Kimmel said. “He turned the Oval Office into the gift shop at the Liberace Museum.”
But Kimmel was curious about the timing of the president’s announcement.
“Why are you doing this now? Why are you doing this right after the midterms?” Before answering his own question, Kimmel wondered: “Maybe he’s planning to leave sooner than we thought.”
He played a clip of Trump in the Oval Office worrying about what would happen to the room when he was no longer there.
But Kimmel offered a clear reality check.
“Let me tell you something, man: On January 20, 2029, we’ll get this shit out of the way faster than Melania can get back to New York,” he said as the audience cheered.
