Ben Stiller to Moderate William Shatner’s NYCC ‘Star Trek’ Panel

Actor and filmmaker Ben Stiller will have a conversation with William Shatner as part of the “Star Trek” panel at New York Comic-Con this Saturday. Diversity learned privately.

It was previously reported that Shatner would appear at the panel celebrating the 60th anniversary of the “Star Trek” franchise. The panel will take place on October 10 from 3:15-4:15 pm ET on the Empire Stage at NYCC. In addition to the conversation between Shatner and Stiller, the panel will also feature the cast and creators of “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” Season 2, moderated by Collider’s Perri Nemiroff.

Stiller is a lifelong “Star Trek” fan and has often spoken about the impact the original series had on him and his career. He and Shatner have collaborated several times in the past as well. These collaborations include Stiller’s appearance in the Shatner-hosted documentary “The Truth Is in the Stars” and Shatner’s appearance with Stiller in the hit comedy “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.”

Stiller’s current roster includes Season 3 of “Severance” for Apple TV, as well as starring roles in the Apple TV shows “Off Weeks” and “Protective Custody.” He will later return to the “Meet the Parents” series with Robert DeNiro and Ariana Grande in the movie “Focker-in-Law”, which will be released on November 25.

During the “Starfleet Academy” Season 2 episode, panelists will include series stars Holly Hunter, Sandro Rosta, Bella Shepard, Karim Diané and Robert Picardo, as well as co-showrunners and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau.

“Starfleet Academy” Season 2 does not have a premiere date yet, but it is scheduled to premiere in 2027. Diversity Season 2, exclusively reported in March, will be the series’ final season.
