carli lloyd and her husband Brian HollinsWith the birth of their second baby, they added a new member to the family.
The United States women’s national soccer team alumnus, 44, and golfer, 42, announced on Monday, September 28, that they welcomed a son, Hunter Jax, four days ago.
“Our hearts have never been this full. 🤍 Welcome to the world our sweet son 💙,” Lloyd wrote on Instagram with photos of her newborn baby. “This was not the easiest birth, which makes us even more grateful for the best team of Doctors, nurses, and everyone else who took incredible care of us throughout this pregnancy. @mcobgyns @virtuahealth, Dr. McCrosson, Dr. McCullen, Erica O’Learly, Dr. Zender, Jordan. Thank you for the best care!!”
In her social media post, the athlete confirmed that everyone was home, hugging and “trying to adjust to life as a family of four – especially with our 2-year-old learning her new role as a big sister 🥹🤍.”
“These days are a little crazy, a little sleep-deprived, but incredibly special. We feel beyond grateful that our son is safe and loved here, and to watch our family grow,” she continued. “Welcome to the family, little man. We love you more than words can express.” 💙.”
Lloyd and Hollins married in November 2016 after nearly two decades. The high school sweethearts previously welcomed their daughter Harper in October 2024.
Less than two years later, Lloyd announced in April that she was pregnant and expecting baby No. 2 with Hollins.

“Our family is growing and we couldn’t be more grateful! 🤍,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “We are soaking in every bit of gratitude, love, and excitement as we prepare to welcome another little miracle into our lives. We still find it hard to believe being blessed with another baby and our hearts are so full. 💖. Baby #2 is coming September 2026! #familyoffour #ivfjourney #grateful #blessed.”
In the accompanying photos, Harper wore a pink sweater with “big sister” written on it as her parents showed off sonogram images and Lloyd’s baby bump.
The following month, Lloyd shared an update on her pregnancy journey while juggling work and parenting responsibilities.
“I try to enjoy the little moments when life goes by faster than I can process it!” He recorded it via Instagram in May. “Childhood days, pregnancy days, work days; they are all beautiful, tiring, and somehow pass by without me even realizing it. 🤍.”

Lloyd has been open about her experiences with infertility and in vitro fertilization in recent years. He previously announced in 2024 Women’s Health An article that she had trouble getting pregnant when she and Hollins began trying for a baby two years ago.
“I realized I didn’t know much about this world. I was naive enough to think we wouldn’t have any trouble getting pregnant,” she wrote at the time. “And so it began. Ordinary events, no matter what, turned into disappointments as the months went by. I was beginning to feel like it was a race against time—my 40-year-old biological clock.”
Although Lloyd was initially hesitant to seek in vitro fertilization because she could not get pregnant naturally, she changed her mind after consulting a specialist.
“I struggled with this a lot up to this point,” he recalled. “As a woman, I wanted to get pregnant naturally because our bodies needed to be able to do that. I felt like my body was letting me down.”
Lloyd, who also detailed the daunting disruptions involved in the egg retrieval and embryo transfer process, initially felt “really embarrassed and embarrassed” about undergoing in vitro fertilization, but eventually realized “we’re all human and many women experience similar difficulties.”
“There is a stigma that comes with needing help or needing fertility treatments,” she added. “It’s not talked about enough, but it’s just a different process to achieve the same end goal: becoming a parent.”
