Chad Lowe’s daughter Fiona has died. He was 13 years old.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a smart, creative and loving young girl who loved to dance,” her family said in a statement to Page Six on Tuesday.
“He was deeply loved by his sisters and deeply loved by his parents. In fact, he was the light of our lives. His passing is devastating to our entire family and we ask for prayer and privacy at this time.”

Lowe shares Fiona with his wife, producer Kim Painter. The two are also parents to daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
Parents of Fiona’s school were sent an email from the principal on Tuesday morning informing them of the death of a student, but the email did not include the student’s name.
“It is with deep sadness that I call you to inform you of the death of one of our students,” the email obtained by Page Six said. “We express our sincerest condolences to the student’s family, friends and teachers,” the statement said.
“Counselors are available to meet with students and staff who may need emotional support during this difficult time.”
The 58-year-old actor last shared about Fiona on Instagram in November 2025, in honor of her birthday.
“Congratulations on Fiona officially turning into a teenager today!!” he wrote alongside a photo of her smiling and wearing cowboy boots. “Keep dancing through life, FiBear! I love you so much!!”
In February 2025, Lowe shared photos of his daughters visiting what was left of their childhood home in Los Angeles, which was completely destroyed in the Palisades fire.
In one of the photos, all three of her daughters have their arms around each other.
“The way they handled this entire devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable,” he wrote. “I admire their spirit and resilience. It is my sole purpose to help them get through these difficult times. Being their father is the greatest joy and privilege of my life.”
The actor talked about being a father of a daughter in the “Still Here Hollywood” podcast published in August 2024 and reiterated that it was a privilege.
“It takes what I know intellectually about women and equality and the glass ceiling that’s out there and how it’s a misogynistic world in many ways… and it puts that on my heart because I have three daughters,” she said. “And I actually look at the world from their perspective.”
But he noted that it wasn’t all “doom and gloom” and that society was changing.
“So I see how we’re really becoming conscious of the role of women,” she said.
Lowe and Painter, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, have been married since August 2010.
He was previously married to Hilary Swank, but they separated in January 2006 after eight years of marriage.
