“Grey’s Anatomy” and “One Tree Hill” actress Sophia Bush reveals in her new memoir, “And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes From a Life in Progress,” that she married former professional football player Ashlyn Harris in the summer of 2025.
Bush and Harris revealed in the Vogue special issue published on Wednesday that the special ceremony took place in upstate New York, with Harris’ children, Sloane and Ocean, in attendance. The couple later said they traveled around visiting friends and family to reveal their secret marriage.

“We have to have personal experiences with everyone we love, and how do we extinguish that once we’ve been through all of this? Because I don’t want to sit on panels or in interviews and act like ‘My partner,'” Bush told Vogue over Zoom, then turned to Harris. “You’re not my partner, you know that, right? You’re my wife. And it feels so great to say that.”
After Harris described her children running around, picking flowers, and generally having fun, stepmother Bush recalled the family roasting marshmallows on their wedding night: “It was so precious and zero pressure. I’ll never forget that.”
The newlyweds also explained that although they value privacy, optics are important for at least one very important reason.
“We understand how sacred and pure our love is. But visibility is important,” Harris said, “because there are still kids who hide and don’t feel like they’re seen, and if we can make room and space for one person, maybe that’s worth giving us some peace in the public eye.”
