Tarek El Moussa insisted he “earned” the luxury car his 16-year-old daughter gifted him.
The “Flip or Flop” alum advocated teaming up with ex-wife Christina Haack and current wife Heather El Moussa to buy her and Haack’s daughter Taylor a $150,000 BMW X5.
El Moussa shared Taylor’s accomplishments on the “Money Rehab” podcast Wednesday, including Taylor earning a 4.2 GPA and being the MVP of the freshman football team.
“He’s an absolutely amazing kid and he didn’t just get it. He really deserved it and if you ask me he deserved it because he worked really hard and he didn’t even ask for that car,” Tarek said.
The television personality noted that Taylor “would be happy with a used Honda,” but that a BMW is actually more comfortable for him.
“This thing is built like a tank,” he marveled, adding, “He’s in a safe car and he loves it.”
Tarek emphasized that his daughter is not a “spoiled brat” and that he is already responsible for her financial future by investing her in stocks and real estate throughout her life.
“He was flying on private jets when he was 1 year old, okay, so this kid grew up on some things,” he noted. “So I didn’t have anything when I grew up, right? That’s why I’m obsessed with things because I never had anything.”
“He always had something going on,” he continued. “So, he looks at things differently than I do.”
Apparently this isn’t the first time Tarek has been generous with gifting a car. Host Christina Lapin was in disbelief when she recalled buying Heather a white Ferrari on their second date after she told him it was her dream car.
“This is the third date he’s moved in,” he boasted.
Back in August, Tarek posted a video on Instagram surprising Taylor with an expensive silver SUV alongside Heather and Haack.
Taylor reacted in shock, wiping away her tears and saying, “Oh my God!” he shouted.
Tarek captioned the video: “What more surprise… Taylor’s car or the fact that the three of us pulled this off? 😂 The car is so well deserved, we love you so much Tay.”
Tarek, 45, and Haack, 43, also have 11-year-old son Brayden. The two were married for seven years before splitting in 2016.
Even after their split, they continued to co-host their HGTV show “Flip or “Flop” until the show ended in 2022 after 10 seasons.
Tarek married 39-year-old Heather in October 2021. He and the “Selling Sunset” star’s 3-year-old son, Tristan, is due in 2023.
In July, Heather hit back at a “rude” social media follower who asked her how it felt to never have to worry about money.
“We didn’t come from money,” she said of herself and her husband. “Tarek and I have worked hard, both separately and together, to get to where we are today.”
