In the hospital, Kim, 45, said she had “a disease called esophagitis.” A voice outside the screen asked Jin: “Didn’t your father die because of this?”
The trailer then jumps to a scene with Kim’s mom, kris jenner. “I can’t. It makes me want to cry,” an emotional Chris, 70, told the camera.
Esophagitis is a condition involving swelling and irritation of the tissue lining the esophagus. According to the Mayo Clinic, if left untreated, esophagitis can lead to a condition called Barrett’s esophagus, which increases the risk of esophageal cancer.
Robert died of esophageal cancer in September 2003 at the age of 59. In addition to Kim, Robert also has two daughters they share kourtney kardashian and Khloe Kardashian and son Rob Kardashian With Chris.
Kim’s sister Khloé, 42, has been particularly candid about her father’s death over the years.
“At the funeral, when I saw my father lying in the casket, I was completely devastated,” Khloe recalled in her 2015 memoir. “My dad died very quickly,” Khloe revealed. “He had esophageal cancer and I think he died six to seven weeks after diagnosis.”
She added, “I don’t think he could accept that he was terminally ill, but he never said that to us.”
For her part, Kim gave credit to Robert, who worked on the Notorious O.J. Simpson The murder trial influenced her interest in studying law and provided her with advice about the career.
Kim told Fashion In 2019, “He once said to me, ‘I think you’d be good at it. But I also think it’s stressful and exhausting. So, if you want a stress-free life, maybe don’t go to law school.”
During the Television Critics Association’s Winter 2020 press tour, Kim reflected on growing up in her father’s workplace.
“I think when I was a teenager and he was working on the OJ case, I snuck into his office and looked at all the evidence and stuff that I wasn’t supposed to look at,” she said.
She continued: “Maybe over the years, that’s what I wanted to do. I’ve even seen interviews pop up from six or seven years ago. People asked me what I wanted to do if I wasn’t doing the show. I always said I wanted to be a crime scene investigator or a lawyer.”
