Megyn Kelly Criticizes Olivia Rodrigo for Condemning the Cornell 7

Following Olivia Rodrigo’s statement on Sunday supporting Jane Doe at the center of the Cornell 7 case, Megyn Kelly fired back at the singer, calling her a “know-nothing idiot” who should “sit down and be quiet.”

“Olivia, in summary, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Shut up and keep singing,” Kelly said on Monday’s episode of her YouTube show. “I liked you better when you were singing your weird little depressing songs in front of a microphone.” She continued: “It’s better to keep your mouth shut and let people suspect you’re an idiot than to open it up and prove they’re right. Have you ever heard that saying? It goes for you too, honey… We don’t need the participation of clueless idiots who are automatically tuned to fame and suddenly think they have something profound to say about the culture wars.”

Rodrigo shared a post on his Instagram story the other day: “Shame on Cornell and every institution that protects rapists and harassers of women. I stand with Jane Doe. Her bravery resonates across the country and the crimes committed against her will not go unpunished. Her experience matters, as does the failure of those who could have intervened but chose not to. She deserves answers, consequences, and lasting change.”

The Cornell 7 lawsuit refers to a legal document filed by an unnamed Cornell University student who accused seven men of raping and drugging her at a fraternity house party in October 2024 and faced no legal consequences. The lawsuit filed against the university claimed that the school failed to protect itself and prevent the alleged attack.

Following an investigation conducted by the university at the time, two of the men were expelled while the other five received lighter sentences. The lawsuit alleges that some wrote to the school to reduce disciplinary actions, according to his lawyer.

Florence Pugh, Mariska Hargitay, Hudson Williams, Josh Gad and many more celebrities have used their platforms to condemn the lawsuit in recent weeks.
