Michael Douglas threatened Julia Roberts over her son at the Golden Globes party: memoir

Michael Douglas recalled an unfortunate incident in which he threatened Julia Roberts with the Golden Globe in his new memoir, published today.

The 82-year-old Oscar winner writes in “One Helluva Ride” that she and Roberts were at the Golden Globes party. She was filming “Flatliners,” a 1990 horror movie that also starred her then-fiancé, Kiefer Sutherland.

Douglas, who produced the film, brought his 13-year-old son Cameron as his plus one.

“We were at the bar and Julia had her arm around my son and was nuzzling him,” he wrote. “To me, he looked confused at that moment… but I was pretty drunk.”

The “Fatal Attraction” star remembers telling Roberts: “Take your hands off my son and take that Golden Globe and stick it where the sun don’t shine.”

The next morning, Douglas received a call from his production partner, who heard about the incident.

“I had crossed the line with the most sought-after young actress in Hollywood,” the “Wall Street” star says.

He sent Roberts a bunch of roses along with a note and apologized personally to her and Sutherland.

“Fortunately, they forgave me enough to get through it and finish the painting,” he writes. “Kiefer and I remained friends. Julia, not so much.”

A spokesman for Roberts did not respond to comment.

A few years later, Douglas entered rehab for alcohol and substance abuse.

The memoirs are filled with stories from Douglas’s long career in Hollywood; including an on-set fling with Kathleen Turner while filming “Romancing the Stone.”

“We found each other first as friends, then as leading ladies, and finally as lovers,” he writes. “After a tiring day of shooting in the jungle… I would sneak into his hotel room after everyone was asleep.”

The affair ended when Douglas’ wife Diana Luker and Cameron visited the set, and Luker confronted Turner.
