A woman in Texas was arrested for allegedly stabbing her two children, including her 10-month-old baby and her husband, in their home.
Holly Flores She is accused of attacking her young son, 3-year-old daughter and husband at their home in Northlake on Tuesday morning, Oct. 6, police said, according to KDFW. Police said her husband called police to report the attack, according to KDFW.
Flores’ husband was reportedly stabbed in the head and the children were stabbed in the chest, according to authorities.
Northlake Police Chief says all three survived the attack and were taken to the hospital Robert Crawford he said at a press conference on Tuesday, the TV channel reported.
“I don’t believe they are life-threatening,” Crawford said of the children’s injuries. “They are still in the hospital for observation, but I believe they will be fine.”
He described the situation as “very, very heartbreaking.”
Police officers arrested Flores, 37, minutes after responding to the stabbing, CBS News reported. He was also found injured and taken to the hospital before being booked into the Denton County Jail.
Flores is charged with two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Crawford said at the press conference that police had previously visited his home at least five times in the past seven months due to welfare concerns.
According to Crawford, Flores stabbed her husband on Tuesday as he tried to move their children to a different room during the attack, WFAA reported.
Authorities did not specify a possible motive or what led to the incident.
“You know, most people don’t see tragedies like this in their lifetime,” Crawford said, according to KDFW. “We see this many times throughout our career, and after a while it becomes a burden on you. But yes, if the community can pray, if you can pray for us and for the family where this happens.”
The Northlake Police Department is continuing to investigate the stabbing.
It was not immediately clear whether Flores had retained legal counsel.
Northlake is about a 40-mile drive northwest from Dallas.
