DS asked Alexia to explain what she meant by this, and she said: “Seven years ago I was on a trip with some friends and I was with people I trusted. I was put to bed because I drank a little too much. And I woke up and could tell something was going on.”

Alexia recalled that she “didn’t even have the strength or consciousness to say no” to the person who attacked her.

“I felt completely objectified. And so I went through a lot of pain and anger. During my freshman year, I decided that happiness was a choice, and I was going to choose to set it aside,” she said. “But it still hurts.”
