Star Wars Galactic Racer Releases on Amazon Luna (Game News Recap)

“Star Wars: Galactic Racer” launched on Amazon’s gaming service, Luna, on the same day and date as it launched on platforms worldwide, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, and PC.

Developed by Fuse Games, the studio behind the “Burnout” and “Need for Speed” series, “Star Wars: Galactic Racer” puts players at the controls of various repulsorcraft on a racetrack in a galaxy far, far away.

Set in the early New Republic era, the game introduces the Galactic League, an unsanctioned racetrack created by Darius Pax. Players step into the role of Shade, a lone racer who dreams of victory and revenge. High-stakes races take place on “Star Wars” planets like Jakku, Graveyard of Giants, Ando Prime or Sentinel I.

“We’ve always believed that Luna players deserve to be in on the action from day one, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer makes this a reality for the first time,” said Amazon Game Manager Jeff Gattis. “Luna players can join the single-player campaign today without having to own a console or wait for a long download. And the best part: If they’re a Prime member, they already have this at no additional cost. “This is exactly the type of experience we want to bring to Luna, and we think players will love it.”

Prime members can rev their engines and play the single-player campaign on Amazon Luna on the same day as other platforms.

NEWLY ANNOUNCED GAMES

During RuneFest 2026 over the weekend, developer Jagex announced the upcoming fourth “RuneScape” MMO game, along with new content for “RuneScape,” “Old School RuneScape,” and “RuneScape: Dragonwilds.”

The game, which is still in development and has not yet been named, will “bring the world of Gielinor to life in the Unreal Engine, combining the depth, freedom and community-led spirit that has defined RuneScape for 25 years with today’s technology and game design possibilities,” according to the team.

“RuneScape Reignited” launches December 2nd and invites players old and new to come together and rediscover “RuneScape” with the ultimate RuneScape experience.

Players will be able to get full Reignited Access without a membership from December 2nd to December 12th. The plugin API will be released in October and players will get an early hands-on experience before the official release.

“Hoard of Dragons” launches in January and offers a sequel to the popular “Dragon Slayer” quest, “City of Gnomes” continues the gnome story first announced in 2002, and “Secrets of Karamja” introduces a new end-game raid. These arcs bring together “RuneScape’s” 2027 content into three distinct storytelling arcs and also include an agility skill reworking, new skill and solo bosses, new area expansions, and a new “Grandmaster Quest.”

“Luminance,” a brand new update that serves as the beginning of 2027’s “Blood Crystal Saga,” is coming in December this year and features the introduction of Elves to “RuneScape: Dragonwilds,” new elf-themed customization options for player characters and buildings alike, and the Prayer skill. “The Blood Crystal Saga” begins in 2027, starting with Song of Rebellion in early 2027. Official modding will come to “Dragonwilds” in 2027 through a new partnership with CurseForge.

Step into the castle! “The Traitors” fans can now test their scheming skills with “The Traitors: Interactive Game” on iOS and Android platforms, Fusebox Games announced Monday.

Players start by choosing a defining characteristic: the outspoken leader, the adaptable chameleon, or the chaotic wildcard that will form the basis of your character.

Set over 12 days, 22 players mimic the TV show in the castle, building trust with other players during missions and creating believable theories during the Round Table.

“When it comes to adapting iconic entertainment intellectual property, Fusebox Games is a fiercely loyal partner,” said Terry Lee, CEO of Fusebox Games. “Our history is built on story-driven, choice-driven games that put players in control, making the deception and strategy of The Traitors a natural fit. We’re giving fans the chance to step out of the audience, sit at the table, and tell their own stories in the goal.”

TECHNOLOGY

Google is introducing “Playground,” an experimental gaming platform that allows users to create, play and share completely custom games with no coding experience required.

Through “Playground’s” conversational interface, users can create custom games by typing whatever they want, rearranging starting commands, or receiving guided support to help them share their creativity with the world. With prompts, users can refine rules, customize characters, and adjust the environment until it’s what they imagine. “Playground” is browser-based and games can be played on phones and laptops.

Once a game is ready, users have the option to keep their game private, create a shareable link to send to friends and family, or publish it to share with the broader “Playground” community. Since “Playground” supports multiplayer gameplay, players can also view in-game leaderboards and follow other creators to see their latest creations.

The upcoming “Unity Spark Integration: Playground” will soon offer integration with UnitySpark, so creators looking to expand their concepts can take advantage of Unity Spark’s robust, pro-grade mechanics, 3D capabilities, and flexibility of the Unity runtime.

GAME UPDATES

Gamers, your vocabulary has just expanded a lot. “Words With Friends” added 25,000 new playable words, modernized definitions, and a word reporting tool that gives the community a direct role in shaping the game’s official dictionary.

The new words reflect pop culture terms, lifestyle words, and slang like buzz, bff, drip, and book club.

“We are constantly listening to our players and working to give them the best experience, and our players made that clear; they wanted new words, modern definitions, and a dictionary that evolved with them,” said Yaron Leyvand, Zynga Mobile Games Executive Vice President. “This update delivers on that promise. Words With Friends has always been about connection, and language is at the heart of that. We’re excited to finally give players a comprehensive dictionary that fits the way they talk, play, and connect today.”

The updated dictionary is now available on Words With Friends. Players can download Words With Friends for free from the App Store, Google Play and WordsWithFriends.com.
