FBI It’s returning for season 9, but is everyone in the cast returning?
Created by Law and Order creative Dick Wolf, FBIThe film, which premiered in 2018, is about Federal Bureau of Investigation agents in New York City. The staff has had its share of ups and downs along with Maggie (Missy Peregrym) serial killer Ray DiStefano (Matthew Rauch) kidnapped and killed his sister Erin (Adrienne Rose Bengtsson).
“I think what we’re doing is really important because we’re emphasizing how to move forward. Everyone experiences loss. Everyone goes through depths of emotion in life,” he told Deadline in March. “You have the opportunity to show connection, relationship, intimacy, and growth. That’s exactly why I do it. I hope it makes people feel seen and want to keep going and not give up after such a scary experience.”
Peregrym was hopeful about plans for the show.
“To get this far, it’s like, ‘What do we do next?’ I thought. “You know, I have been playing the same character for eight years and we are going very far,” he said. “What’s the plan? How do we take the next steps so we can get back on our feet and be out in the world again? We’re not a show where we sit around in our underwear and chat on the couch. We need to get back to work.”
He concluded: “So, at what point do we address the reality of that scenario, and we do that to the best of our ability with our show, just like we do with a procedural. But you know, even though it scared me, I ended up being afraid to go into that space. Now I’m finding it really interesting to play my character and find the rhythms of when to add those things and when to work them. And it’s just a challenge. It’s just like we’re making a new show again. You know what I mean? Maybe it’s a gift.”

Missy Peregrym
Peregrym recently ruled out plans to leave the series after Maggie mourned the loss of her sister.
“I’ll be honest. I’m on a procedural show and I’m wondering what kind of impact it’s going to have. And sometimes I freak out because I think we’re highlighting some of the horrors of humanity every week,” Peregrym told Deadline in March. “So what is this? What are we doing this for? What am I investing so much of my life into doing this?”
Zeeko Zaki
Zaki’s OA isn’t going anywhere — but his story will look a little different in season 9 after he goes undercover.
Jeremy Sisto
The fan-favorite character of Jubal, aka Sisto, is front and center once again when the series returns.
Alana de la Garza
De la Garza is expected to return as Isobel after joining the series as a guest star in season 1.
John Boyd
It’s very likely that fans will revolt if Boyd’s Scola leaves the FBI; so there is no concern that he won’t return.
Juliana Aiden Martinez
After joining the show in season 8, Martinez expressed hope that she would remain on the series as Eva Ramos.
“I sat down with showrunner Mike Weiss before I came on the show and he told me who he thought Eva would be. That was really the deciding factor for me, saying, ‘Yes, this is something that’s very interesting to me. This is something that I think I can deliver and value and make it exciting and different,'” she told Us Weekly exclusively. “When you join a new show, you get the opportunity to do something different. There’s definitely a sense of, ‘Okay, how can you show different aspects of a profession? How can you show how different women approach something differently?’ It was like.”
Shantel VanSanten
VanSanten will officially return to the role of Nina later in the season.
