“There was a gap in the market for high-end basics and something that gave you more than a T-shirt, more than a blouse,” she tells ET.

While Cham was dreaming of the pieces he wanted in his own closet, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Claudia Schifferand other style muses, they even name designs after them.

“When I first started CHAM, it was the icons of the 90s that inspired me the most. The simplicity of the 90s, where the fit and fabric were the most important things, was what I always loved,” he explains.

Naturally, these elements became the foundation of the brand, starting with its special fabric that feels like a second skin.

“Working in costume design taught me that the ultimate goal is to make someone feel confident in what they wear. … I also learned that everything is amplified on camera. A fabric can read differently, colors can appear brighter, and even a small fit issue can suddenly look messy on screen,” she notes.

“I wanted something that was transparent but not too see-through; I wanted something that was flexible but would still hold you and look high-end and not just like workout gear.”

The silhouettes also have a few tricks on their sleeves; Keyhole necklines, slits, off-the-shoulder styles, cutouts, mini lengths and more add a little something extra to everyday pieces.

“Everything had to be extremely precise when casting the actors. We learned all these little strategies about proportion and fit to create the illusion of a longer torso, slimmer arms or a more flattering shape. This made me a perfectionist with fit, proportion and fabric, and really taught me how much the right clothing can change the way someone looks and, more importantly, how they feel.”

This attention to detail is also reflected in the color palette of red, brown, black, cream, navy blue, orange and green, chosen to make dressing much easier.

“I choose colors that work well together so they can be easily mixed and matched. I keep tones softer and focus on subtle undertones, while also offering enough variety that everyone can find a color they feel naturally good at,” she says.

And because underwear is important, too, the fashion maven took the label a notch deeper by launching her celebratory underwear on Oct. 3 at the Body Shop in West Hollywood, California.

“I wanted to create something that was simple but still sexy, something that allowed a woman to feel her best without showing up under tight or see-through clothing.”

For anyone looking to keep the basics a little simpler, CHAM also offers a wide variety of jewelry for a fun, personal touch.

“I’ve always gravitated towards cute accessories that make an outfit a little less serious and more fun. It seems so in line with current fashion and the whole whimsical idea. I’m constantly wearing charms with skirts, tops or bags.”
