Halle Berry is accused of abusing her 12-year-old son by her ex-husband, actor Olivier Martinez, who has filed a petition for a temporary restraining order against the actor.
Martinez alleges that on Sept. 26, the “Catwoman” actress “physically abused our son Maceo by jumping on top of him, wrapping her hands around his neck and choking him.” Martinez is seeking sole custody, which would replace the current split arrangement.
Berry’s attorney, Marina Beck, responded to the application with a statement: “To say that this application is completely unwarranted and deliberately misleading would be an understatement. There is ample evidence, including numerous judicial decisions, that Olivier Martinez has repeatedly violated court orders and interfered with necessary treatment and educational interventions to the detriment of his and Halle Berry’s infant son, Maceo – an abuse for which Mr. Martinez is already legally sanctioned.”
Beck’s statement continued: “In one sense, today’s appeal is not entirely unexpected from an individual with a well-documented history of erratic, possessive, and violent behavior. Fortunately, Halle is accustomed to such outrageous behavior from Mr. Martinez, and while she is deeply saddened, she will not let this deter her from fighting for Maceo’s best interests and providing him with the love and support he needs.”
In her request for a restraining order, Martinez stated that “there have been other incidents of abuse over the past several years. These other incidents include Petitioner’s verbal and emotional abuse of me, as well as additional physical assaults on our son.”
For example, Martinez alleges that Berry “told our son that I was ‘a white bitch trying to rob a black woman’ because of child support issues.” Mrs. Berry then asked our son, ‘As a black man, what do you think about this?’ he asked.
Martinez wrote in the lawsuit that Berry texted him after the incident to apologize. “I don’t want
“Permanently sever the relationship between our son and (Berry), but I do not believe they should interact with each other until the Petitioner takes adequate responsibility for his actions,” she wrote.
Martinez also asked that Berry be ordered not to be under the influence of alcohol or other substances when visiting their son.
“I believe he may have been traumatized by the incident” and did not want to spend time at his home, Martinez said in the lawsuit.
Berry and Martinez filed for divorce in 2015 after being married for two years. Berry also has an 18-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Berry’s representatives did not respond to a request for comment.
