Taylor Swift didn’t look like it would accompany Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs on the team’s first road trip of the 2026 season.
Swift, 36, was not present for the game at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, September 27, when the Chiefs took on the Dolphins in their first road test in Kansas City.
The game arrives just days after the pop star’s launch A Showgirl’s Life: Encore Out Friday, September 25, is the deluxe edition of his latest studio album, featuring four new songs.
Swift’s absence from Miami is certainly no surprise, as he has not attended the Chiefs’ away games in the 2025 season.
Additionally, Swift is set to receive her first MTV VMA Artist Director Award at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The new award recognizes “groundbreaking musical artists whose work behind the scenes expands the possibilities of the music video and advances the art of visual storytelling.”
Swift was nominated 11 more times at the ceremony, including for Artist of the Year, Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia” and Album of the Year. A Showgirl’s Life and “I Knew, I Knew You” The Song of the Summer.

Swift explained the inspiration behind “Patient Zero” in an interview with England’s Capital FM on Friday.
“The story behind writing the song ‘Patient Zero’ is this: I was hanging out with a group of friends, and one of my friends told us that one of his ex’s new girlfriends had reached out to him and asked for guidance on whether she’d had the same experiences as this guy,” the singer explained.
Swift said that “everyone” in her group of friends immediately started saying, ‘Oh, I’ve been through that too,’ and telling them stories about when that kind of access happened.
She added: “I thought to myself, ‘If this has happened to all of us, that’s a very interesting perspective on humanity and relationships, and I wonder if I could write it from the perspective of receiving this phone call and actually just from the perspective of my ex who’s been through this before and the perspective of the phone call.'”
The Chiefs also hit the road for their next game, traveling to Las Vegas to play the Raiders on Sunday, October 4th.
