After controversy erupted over Donald Trump’s administration buying TV ad time (with taxpayer dollars) to run ads supporting the president, Trump said he would now fund what he called “patriotic ads” himself.
In a statement posted on Truth Social on Monday, Trump wrote: “The Radical Left is upset with me taking Ads that I think are positive publicity for our Great USA and paying for them with US money. This is pretty standard, but although nothing would make them happy, instead of doing that, I decided to make Patriotic Ads, among others, and pay for them myself and with the money I raise for MAGA, Inc. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
Diversity Earlier on Thursday, it was reported that the administration had begun running ads on Fox News, Newsmax, CBS, Fox, NBC, MS NOW, CNN and ABC stating that the president was fighting “communism, socialism and Marxism” as well as “fake news media.”
In a statement DiversityA White House spokesman said: “These public service announcements are about reminding Americans to love their country and understand what makes it worth defending at home, at our borders and abroad. The ad is educational and unapologetically patriotic. We should be proud of our country.”
Last month, the White House reportedly spent more than $440,000 of US taxpayer dollars on pro-Trump TV ads, and the White House defended this again, framing the ads as an act of patriotism, stating that “the announcements are very clearly not campaign ads; President Trump is not on the ballot, and there is no call to action.” “Instead, the announcements remind Americans that they should love their country and know why it is worth defending at home, at the border and abroad. This is not partisanship; this is a government that still believes in the country it serves.”
